Trend Spotting Down Under: Get suited!

Hello ladies! Business wear seems to be the attire all over this lovely city and I am not complaining. I like a man in a business suit as much as the next girl and Sydney is full of them! I’ve seen every range of trench coat, slacks, and preppy oxford, in every color in the rainbow. I’ve only been here two days, but the style is something totally different than that of San Francisco. An eclectic mix of polished pieces and fantastic accessories Sydney’s Circular Quay style is fresh, fun, and easy to wear.

To copy the look:
- Tailored slacks or a lovely pencil skirt
- Skinny belt in a punchy color (try pink or yellow)
-Scarves scarves and more scarves!
-High ponytail or loose chignon
-Tights: printed, fishnet, back seamed, feel free to go crazy
- Leather boots in a rich brown or black

Spice up your home’s wardrobe: It needs love too!

Having just moved into a new apartment, I have begun to be aware of all the “necessities” that are available to make it a stylish home. Rugs, chandeliers, printed towels, bedding, the list goes on and on. What colors, what styles, what should I be thrifty on and what should I splurge on? Who wants boring plain set of dishes when you could have hand painted porcelain ones from Crate and Barrel? These are questions I feel we have all been overwhelmed by at one point or another.

I’ve figured out the trick is getting what you absolutely need, and supplementing these major pieces with fabulous accessories, not unlike what we all should be doing with our wardrobes. Also, pick a theme and a focus for each room. For example, my bedroom is classically colored pieces of furniture (think cherry hardwood, and black stained oak) mixed with bohemian feeling pieces of vibrant bedding and whimsical décor. The focus in my room is definitely SHOES, SHOES and more SHOES. I picked a set of square open-shelves to showcase my ever-growing collection and made it a sort of focal centerpiece for the room.

Just as everyone’s personal style is different., everyone’s home style is different, but I’ve become confident with a little consolidation, some Lysol and some retail therapy my apartment is slowly becoming a perfect expression of me. Try it with one of your rooms! Revamp old furniture with a glaze, or a fresh coat of paint, add a perfect piece of artwork, or even a vase, and you’ll get the same kind of butterflies you get from purchasing a brand new pair of pumps. Think of it as accessorizing for your life!
